Free online teleprompters, compared — which ones follow your voice
A teleprompter either scrolls at a speed you set, or listens and scrolls at the speed you read. The free online ones split on exactly that, and on whether they record you while you read. Each row cites the tool's own page, checked on 24 October 2026.
The short answer
For a voice-activated teleprompter with no account, SnipSound follows your voice with no time limit set, records the audio, and checks your take against the script afterwards. Speakflow's voice scrolling gives 2 free minutes before it asks for an account; unlimited is $15 a month.
To record yourself on camera while you read, use VEED or Speakflow: both record video. SnipSound records audio only.
For a plain scrolling prompter, or real teleprompter glass, use CuePrompter: free for any use, adjustable speed, and a mirror mode.

Voice-activated teleprompters: which ones follow you for free
A voice-activated teleprompter listens as you read and keeps your line in view, so you never race the text or wait for it. Of the four here, two do it. Speakflow calls it Flow and gives 2 minutes free before asking for an account, in Chrome or Edge; unlimited Flow is on its $15-a-month Plus plan. SnipSound's follows your voice with no account and no time limit set; we've tested it on a 12-minute read. On a computer with a graphics card it stays within a few words of where you are reading, and skipping a line doesn't lose its place. On a laptop without one the speech engine runs behind, so in a long read the script can scroll ahead of you before it catches up. CuePrompter and VEED scroll at a speed you set.
After the take, SnipSound shows what you actually said against the script: skipped words struck through, added words highlighted, and a “Record again from here” on any line you didn't read.
Where SnipSound wins, and where it doesn't
Wins: it follows your voice with no account, writes your words down while you read, and checks the take against your script. That suits voiceovers, podcast intros, and practising a talk. When you're done, the take can become a captioned video in one tap.
Loses: it records audio, not video. If you need to be on camera while you read, VEED and Speakflow record video, and SnipSound doesn't. It has no mirror mode for teleprompter glass (CuePrompter has one), and no remote control. Voice following has been tested in English and in Chrome-based browsers; the script language is detected from your text.
Each teleprompter in one paragraph
A free scrolling prompter, “free for any use”, commercial included, with no sign-up, adjustable speed, colour themes and a mirror mode for teleprompter glass. It doesn't follow your voice or record; for that its page points to the Teleprompter.com app, made by the same company.
Voice-activated scrolling (“Flow”) with 2 free minutes before an account, Chrome or Edge only until you sign in. Plus ($15 a month, billed yearly) adds unlimited Flow, an hour of stored video, an overlay mode and voice commands; Studio ($99 a month) is for teams.
Records webcam, screen or slides while the script scrolls at your chosen speed, then opens the video in VEED's editor for trims and subtitles. Free to start with no account; the paid Creator plan (€108 a year) removes the watermark and length limit on exports.
