To generate binaural beats free online: put on headphones, pick a preset (Sleep, Meditate, Relax, or Focus) or set the beat frequency yourself, and press Play. Each ear gets a slightly different pure tone, and your brain perceives the difference as a slow rhythmic "beat." Lower beat frequencies (delta/theta) suit sleep and meditation; higher ones (alpha/beta) suit relaxation and focus.
What are binaural beats?
A binaural beat is an auditory illusion. Play a 200 Hz tone in your left ear and a 210 Hz tone in your right, and you don't hear two pitches — you hear one tone that pulses 10 times a second. That 10 Hz pulse is the "beat," and it falls in the alpha brainwave band. People use binaural beats as a focus aid, a wind-down ritual before sleep, a meditation anchor, or simply as gentle background sound. Because the effect depends on each ear receiving a different signal, headphones are required — over a speaker the two tones mix in the air and the illusion disappears.
Brainwave bands & what they're used for
| Band | Beat frequency | Commonly used for |
|---|---|---|
| Delta | 0.5–4 Hz | Deep, dreamless sleep |
| Theta | 4–8 Hz | Meditation, light sleep, creativity |
| Alpha | 8–13 Hz | Relaxed calm, stress relief |
| Beta | 13–30 Hz | Active focus, alertness, study |
| Gamma | 30–40 Hz | High concentration |
Ways to use it
😴 Fall asleep faster
Set a delta beat (2–3 Hz) at low volume and let it play as you drift off.
🎯 Study & deep work
A beta beat (15–20 Hz) makes a steady, distraction-free backdrop for focus sessions.
🧘 Meditation
Theta beats (6 Hz) are a classic anchor for breathwork and mindfulness.
🌿 Stress relief
Alpha beats (10 Hz) help you unwind after a long day without going all the way to sleep.
Why SnipSound's generator?
Most binaural-beat sites stream pre-rendered audio from a server, lock the good frequencies behind a sign-up, or wrap everything in ads. SnipSound generates the tones live on your device, so they're mathematically exact, start instantly, cost nothing, and never need an account. Compared with apps like Brain.fm, myNoise, or BetterSleep, our wedge is simple: free, no sign-up, and nothing leaves your device. You can also download a clean MP3 or WAV to use offline.

Frequently asked questions
Do binaural beats really work?
The brainwave-entrainment claims are still debated by researchers, but many people find binaural beats genuinely helpful as a focus aid, a relaxation tool, or a consistent background sound for sleep and meditation. Treat them as a pleasant listening aid rather than medicine.
Do I need headphones?
Yes. Binaural beats only work when each ear hears a different tone. Over a speaker the two tones blend in the air and you lose the effect. Any stereo headphones or earbuds work.
Is this binaural beats generator free?
Completely free. No sign-up, no account, no watermark, and no usage limits. The tones are generated in your browser, so there's no cost to run it.
Does my audio get uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is generated locally with the Web Audio API. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is recorded unless you choose to download a file — and even then the rendering happens on your device.
What beat frequency should I use?
For sleep try 2–3 Hz (delta), for meditation 6 Hz (theta), to relax 10 Hz (alpha), and to focus 15–20 Hz (beta). Use the presets as a starting point, then nudge the sliders to taste.
Can I download the binaural beats?
Yes — choose a length (up to 10 minutes) and MP3 or WAV, then press Download. For longer sessions just leave the tab playing; it runs indefinitely with no extra load.
Are binaural beats safe?
For most people, yes, at a comfortable volume. If you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, or wear a pacemaker, check with a doctor first, and don't listen while driving or operating machinery.
