About AMR to MP3 Conversion
Convert AMR files to MP3 online for free. AMR is the speech format older phones used for voice memos and call recordings. Most computers and media players won't open it; MP3 plays everywhere.
When you might convert AMR to MP3
- Phone voice memos. Many older Android and feature phones saved voice memos as AMR. Convert them to keep or share.
- Call recordings. Some phone call recorders save AMR files. Convert to MP3 to play them on a computer.
- Transcribing. Convert to MP3, then use our free transcription tool to turn the recording into text.
- Archiving. Move an old phone's recordings into a format that will still open in years to come.
AMR records speech at 8 kHz, so it sounds like a phone call. The MP3 keeps that sample rate, which means it comes out at 64 kbps whichever quality you pick: plenty for a voice, and a small file. Converting can't add quality that wasn't recorded. Tested with AMR-NB (the common .amr); AMR-WB hasn't been tested yet.
Why SnipSound
- 100% browser-based. Many online converters upload your file to a server first. This one doesn't — your AMR stays on your device.
- No cap imposed by us. Large files stream in pieces rather than loading, so memory is not the ceiling it is in most browser tools.
- No sign-up, no ads, no watermarks.
- Multiple output formats. Switch the dropdown to export as WAV, OGG, FLAC, AAC, or M4A instead of MP3.
