How to make your own soundboard

  1. Open your board. Start a custom soundboard. A new board opens empty, ready for your sounds.
  2. Add your sounds. Click Upload your sounds or drop audio files anywhere on the page: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC or FLAC. Or pick from the free library.
  3. Name each pad. Rename pads inline so you can find the right one fast.
  4. Set hotkeys. Click a pad's key badge and press a key. Press that key any time to play it; sounds can overlap, and Stop all silences everything.

Get your clips ready first

A soundboard works best with short, punchy clips at a similar volume. Trim each clip to the moment you want, make quiet ones louder, or give a clip a twist in the audio effects studio before you add it. Want ready-made sounds instead? Browse the free soundboard: 175 sound effects, from air horns and drumrolls to animal sounds.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make my own soundboard for free?

Open SnipSound's custom soundboard, click Upload your sounds (or drop audio files anywhere on the page), rename each pad, and click its key badge to give it a hotkey. It's free, with no account and nothing to install.

Can I add my own sounds?

Yes. Add any audio your browser can play: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC or FLAC. You can mix your own clips with any of the 175 free sound effects in the library.

Where is my custom soundboard saved?

In your browser, on your device. Your clips never leave your device, and your board is there the next time you open it in the same browser. Clearing your browser data, or using a different browser or device, starts a fresh board.

Can I set keyboard shortcuts for each sound?

Yes. Click the key badge on a pad and press any key. That key then plays the sound whenever you're not typing in a text box. Click the badge again to change or clear it.

Can people on a call hear my soundboard?

The soundboard plays through your speakers. For people on a call to hear it, share the browser tab with its audio (Google Meet, Zoom and Discord all offer this), or let your microphone pick it up.
