Compress a video for email, Discord or any size
Compress video for email
Gmail and Outlook.com stop at 25 MB per email, and an attachment grows by about a third on the way. So the Email preset aims under 18 MB, and the video arrives instead of bouncing. It works the same for a phone video you want to email from a computer.
Compress video for Discord
Free Discord accounts can send files up to 20 MB. The Discord preset aims just under that, so the clip posts as a playable video, not a link. With Nitro Basic (50 MB), use Custom size.
Compress a video to 10 MB, 25 MB or 50 MB
Type any size into Custom size. The tool measures the file it made and, if a hardware encoder overshot, makes it again a little smaller, so a 25 MB target really ends up under 25 MB. If the video is too long for that size, you're told the smallest size that stays watchable before anything runs. Trimming the video shorter is the other way to fit.
Compress a video without losing quality you can see
Smaller, same look keeps the resolution and trims only detail your eye doesn't miss. Use it when you just want to shrink video files, not hit a set size; the page shows the expected size before you press Compress. Every smaller file holds less data, so no compressor is truly lossless. This preset is the one that keeps the difference hardest to spot.
How long a video fits in 18, 20 or 25 MB?
The longer the video, the fewer bits each second gets, so the tool lowers the resolution to keep it watchable. For a 1080p, 30 fps video with sound, the tool plans:
| Video length | Email (18 MB) | Discord (20 MB) | 25 MB |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 seconds | 1080p | 1080p | 1080p |
| 1 minute | 720p | 720p | 1080p |
| 2 minutes | 912×512 | 912×512 | 720p |
| 3 minutes | 912×512 | 912×512 | 912×512 |
| 5 minutes | 656×368 | 656×368 | 768×432 |
| 10 minutes | 400×224 | 400×224 | 400×224 |
| Longest that fits | about 15 minutes | about 17 minutes | about 21 minutes |
From the tool's own size planner, the same code that runs when you press Compress. Vertical phone videos get the same sizes, turned upright. Past about 5 minutes the picture gets soft, so trimming the video or splitting it into parts usually looks better than squeezing it.
Video size limits for email and Discord
| Where it's going | Limit per file | Preset to use |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail | 25 MB per email | Email (under 18 MB) |
| Outlook.com | 25 MB per email | Email (under 18 MB) |
| Discord (free) | 20 MB | Discord (under 20 MB) |
| Discord Nitro Basic | 50 MB | Custom size: 48 MB |
Limits checked 2026-10-29. An email attachment grows by about a third in transit, so the Email preset leaves room for that. Discord raised its free limit from 10 MB to 20 MB in August 2026.
Compress a video without sending it to a server
Most video compressors upload your file to a server, squeeze it there, and send it back. This one works on your own device: your browser's built-in video encoder makes the smaller file, so your video stays private and you never wait for an upload. Speed depends on your device: a recent computer is fastest, and a phone takes longer.
