The first time, your browser downloads the cutout model once (about 26 MB). After that it is stored on your device and does not download again.

How do I make the background of a photo transparent?▼
Drop the photo in and the background is removed automatically; download and you get a PNG with a transparent background, at the photo’s full size. To swap the background instead, choose a colour, a blur of the original, or an image of your own.
Is there a watermark or a size limit?▼
No watermark, ever. On a computer there is no size limit for photos up to 36 megapixels. Phones have less memory, so they are capped at 8 MP on an iPhone and 12 MP on Android.
How well does it handle hair?▼
Well on most portraits, not perfectly on fine flyaway strands. If an edge needs work, the Touch up brush restores or erases by hand, in Smart mode that follows edges or Precise mode that does not.
